By Christopher Bassey
I face the highest Risk,
While I choose a higher Risk,
And to crown it now is a high Risk.
As if I didn’t know that life itself is Risky:
To take in is Risky,
And to deliver is Risky.
Strive for want and greed to death—Risk.
Leave nature to take its course and die wretched,
Poor, forecasting heaven—Risk.
Lie to save from trouble, shame, and disgust,
Or say the truth, get punished, and gain repute.
Which is more Risky?
To shout and beat your love as caution,
Curtailed pain as the prize,
Or to play along in silence, murmuring for years,
Dying slowly like a rat.
Which is more Risky?
Saying yes that opposes your No,
Detriment assured,
Or appreciating a probable fate,
Unsure of fortune or deadlock.
Which is more Risky?
Remember not to blame,
But if you do, I pity you!🌹
